Sioux Bowcase & Quiver. As shown on the front of the book Precious Dreams. Quiver is 24" x 5" with 9" of fringe, partially decorated with quillwork. Bowcase is 33" x 3" with 3" of fringe on both ends. 40" x 2" quilled strap. Belonged to Paints Brown, half brother of Sitting Bull. Reference: Stanley Vestal's book Sitting Bull, copyright 1932, published by Houghton Mifflin. Pages 29 & 31. Decorated with quillwork strips & beadwork on the ends. Terminating in horsehair filled tin cones. A magnificent piece of 19th century history. Includes four original arrows with metal heads & a painted bow. A 4 ½" x 4 ½" quilled bag is attached. Circa 1870s. Provenance: Ex-Raymond Vietzen collection, (Founder of Ohio Archeology Society in 1940s, Elyria, OH).
