(2) The Red Lack Chief and Some of His Followers Arriving at Red River. 8 1/2" x 12" pen and pencil drawing. unsigned. (est $2,000-3,000) Literature: Alvin M. Josephy, Jr. The Artist Was A Young Man, The Life Story of Peter Rindisbacher (Fort Worth, Texas: Amon Carter Museum, 1970), pages 42 & 48, illustrated. A copy of the book will accompany the lot. Provenance: Passed down in the Rindisbacher family to the present owner. Condition Report: (1) Paper fragment from sketch book. Mostly intact but showing losses to the right side. Drawing is clear and excellent. Paper shows foxing and tape remnants. (2) Drawing shows paper loss to upper right and various creases and small holes. Drawing is sharp and legible. Paper is brown from foxing.
