Lakota Pipebag with Pipe and Tamper. 13" x 4" with 8" beaded drop. The bag is constructed from three panels. Each panel displays floral beadwork. Catlinite head pipe has incised banding, turned pipe stem. Wooden tamper. Late 19th century. Provenance: The Luther R. and Frances T. Zehner Collection. Accompanied by a handwritten note "This was Blue Thunder's pipe-a Custer scout. He gave it to Johnson Crazy Bear-he died one year ago in Bull Head when he was sick he gave it to John Shave Bear last fall."
